Here are some pics of the first casting that Reuben and I are playing with, we have machined the foot and the face to accept the 1100 yamaha unit which is 155mm, we will have the shaft shortened by around 300mm and bolt the bearing flange from the ski onto the front flange once it is machined. We have made the intake for a std type grill

Hi Guys, to all of you waiting for the intake, I am in the process of changing the mould Which is nothing to do with the internal shape just making the casting process easier for the foundry and refining the pattern
unfortunately it takes time and I am working on it as fast as I can, so I appreciate your patience and will up date here ASAP

Looks good - nice transition from the rectangle to round. Looks like it would flow good.

thats what I was aiming for, the grill is the key to how well it goes

to all the people that have bought our intakes just make sure that you grind the entry into the intake shown in red

When Reuben and I tested the intake in his boat with only minimal linishing to match it to the 155mm stator (20min) and a grill with too many bars in it we got 77km with both of us and full fuel down stream on the river, we expect that to be better with a new grill and a couple of touch up on the lead in area of the intake. If you are after a finished intake that you can just fit and go then this is not for you it has been made for the ones that dont mind playing around with a blank casting that saves trying to make a fabricated one that cannot get the correct shape. Please note that if for any reason you have any issues then please let us know as we are only too happy to help.

We have started on the grill pattern so hopefully they will be available sometime soon, we have had great feed back from professional boat builders that are using our intake. here is a quote from one
"just finished a boat with your intake, performs really well"
He has now used a number of them and has ordered more. the reverse buckets that we can supply also seems to be a hit

Here is what I have done to make the 145mm pump fit, welded a small amount of weld in the area that needed it (I didnt want to make the casting smaller as it wouldnt siut the larger pumps and it is easy to add a small amount)then surfaced the foot and flange, once that was done I recessed for the stator.Once the stater is fitted I will linish the inside to suit.

how did you go with the matching grills? ive got one of these intakes and either need to make a grill or buy one if you have them ready? cheers

Sorry I missed your post for some reason, I havnt done any more on the grill as the price to produce it would make it too expensive as most guys are making their own

No worries, thanks. Being time poor means buying one would have been easier but all done now. cheers. Just out of interest what would a ball park price for a grill be ?
Posted 2 years ago # -
Best guess would be around $400 to $450+
