Hi all I am new to the jet boating world. I am looking at buying my first boat.
I am in Palmerston North. I have come across this site by fluke doing a Google search for marine shops
Some advise on buying my first boat would be good, and what to watch out for as far as cowboys are concerned.

This is pretty good advice. you could also look on the Jet Boat New Zealand site and perhaps look at contacting some one in your area (look in Branches)Some good info here as well for new boaters

    Thanks, that info is good.
I have been talking to a my Dad this morning and he wants to get in on the act. We thought about a new boat the me and Dad could build it up together. we just want a boat that will suit him and me so we can do some hunting and general jet boating.
I know of Coleman Marine up this way but I have been told he does not build boats.
any help would be good and things to watch out for.
I have been told Lexus is a good jet boat engine, or would this be too big for 2 people.

Hi New Boater, The Toyota Lexus is an awesome jet boat motor we have done over 80 of them into boats. Another good 2nd hand motor option is the Commodore V6 From The VN (180hp) to the VP/VR (200hp) the great thing about these is that they can be run on the car computer saving money on a set up.
It really depends on what size boat you are after. Ian Coleman is a good guy and would give you good advice as well
We do the Scott range of hulls and manufacture to any size and specification.

Thank you, for you advise. Me and Dad are still looking around at jet boat hulls to buy,
Haven't been back to Coleman Marine but have been checking out thing like rapid runner and Hamilton. they seem a bit expensive or is that just the way prices are?
